Charles Brunet, Ninja Warrior finalist and founder of WCA
As a hyperactive child and a carrier of the HLA B27 gene linked to inflammatory joint disease, Charles Brunet felt the first pain associated with this condition at 15 years of age. He then had to learn various rules for moving safely without aggravating the condition and he found sport, and in particular parkour, a means of managing the symptoms.

For 20 years, parkour, with its flowing movements and focus on physical control, has been an integral part of both his personal and professional life. He set up the West Coast Academy (WCA) in 2017 and opened his first obstacle course venue the same year before going on to make a name for himself as a finalist on the Ninja Warrior TV show in 2019.

In the WCA network gyms, he trains and supervises children (from 3 years of age), teenagers and adults. He teaches them the art of efficient movement in a safe environment around a series of obstacles tailored to each individual.
This wide range of ages and experience gives him a precise and global view of each group’s specific needs, from fun and educational activities for younger participants to physical and technical challenges for older users.

A collaboration for outdoor Ninja courses
In the gyms at the West Coast Academy, children and adults are taught the art of movement using all of the body’s natural motor skills and using the arms as well as the legs. We work on hand and foot placement, support, landings and sequences. Progressive development is very important too, both technically and personally.
Together with Proludic’s R&D teams, we’re working on the design of the Ninja outdoor modules. My experience as a course designer and as a finalist in the Ninja Warrior TV show allows me to make the necessary adjustments to ensure they meet expectations in terms of fun, technical features and progressive improvement.
